Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Attending school while on w/c

I am collecting w/c and classes are about to start in Jan. I have been released for work with light duty but employer does not have anything for me. So I am not working but am I allowed to attend classes?

I hesitate to give an unqualified "yes" without more background information.

What kind of classes? What are your restrictions? What is the nature of your injury? What is a description of your job?, etc.

However - as a generalization - and assuming that your attendance at class does not violate your restrictions (e.g., "no prolonged sitting"), I think that you should be fine.

You are actually making yourself more employable (and thus less likely to have a wage loss from the accident) and you are not exceeding the limitations placed upon you by your doctor.

Good luck,

I don't believe that your question gives us enough information to give you a very good answer. If you would like to call me, either I can help you or refer you to someone else that can. I will not charge for the telephone call.
