Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

I work for a program sponsored by the state of illinois, one of my co workers was driving the van from the jobsite to the shop for lunch, the vehicle is a fifteen passenger chevy cargo van. He jumped a hill with a 45 degree incline at 55mph, the van went airbourne and crashed twice, myself and two of my coworkers have been injured. I have a bulged disc in my neck with severe cervical sprain and chipped three teeth and have been off over three weeks, it is extremely painful and im allegec to the painkillers the doctor prescribed,(the companies doctor) so he is hesitant prescribing anything else. I only get about three hours sleep a night. My boss said I dont need a lawyer but should I obtain one? Also the guy that was driving gave a false statement to our boss and quit when they asked him to take a drug test. THere was no police report filed but everyone gave statements.

You certainly should speak to a lawyer.

Under the law, you are entitled to payment of your

medical expenses, income payments during

your period of disability and an award

for any permanency. If your boss is not

a lawyer, he should not be giving legal advice.
