Legal Question in Constitutional Law in India
Protection of the places of worship
The Dist Collector Nizamabad issued land acquisition notification dated:11-8-2207 for acquisition of the 50- years old mosque namely Masjid Raheemia situated at Doodgaon on Pochampad (SRSP Project) X Road. The local muslins from across adjacent five villages perform daily five times prayer at this mosque. The local inhabitants irrespective their religion launched strong protect against the proposed acquisition with the District Administration as well as the National Highways Authority. Could any give legal advice duly quoting the Acts, Rules etc. prohibiting/ restraining the Government from acquiring the places of worship for road widening?
