Legal Question in Consumer Law in India

about launching a consumer complaint website

I am currently pursuing my doctorate on consumer exploitation. I am planning to open a website with me alone as author to hear complaints from people across globe against 3 products and hospital services which i had taken for my ph.d degree. Can i do so? When i consulted about launching a private website for hearing complaints, my web designer wants me to get cleared that as a private person will i be safe to hear complaints from public against manufacturers or dealers? or do i need to have some link with consumer associations and then open website or obtain any permission from government to do so? please do help me? I will not use the information which i get through my website for any other purpose apart for my studies, which i make it clear to the public through the first page of my website? If any legal problems are there, whom can i consult for my problems. please do help me.

Re: about launching a consumer complaint website

1. If by hearing you mean hearing complaints from those who want to tell you about their complaints, you are free to do so. There are no legal impediments.

2. If by hearing you mean hearing complaints from those who want to tell you about their complaints, and also to hear the point of view of those complained against, you are still free to do so. There are no legal impediments. But, the opposite party will not give you their reply. Why should they? They are not bound to do so.

3. If by hearing you mean hearing complaints from those who want to tell you about their complaints, and also to hear the point of view of those complained against, and try to come to a settlement, failing which you would be prepared to either help the complainant in filing a complaint by way of appearing in the court on his behalf, or, by filing the complaint itself on his behalf, then you must be a registered consumer association.

Your aim is to collect material for your study and not 'decided' disputes, it is best for you to get data from Consumer Organisations, that will be faster & safer, without any hindrance. All the best.
