Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India

hi,
I am working in a private software organization. I have joined in 2007.Initially they have put agreement for 5 years. myself and father singed in it. Now i don�t like this organization and i like to relive from it. I like to send reliving letter by email for official intimation.It think they will reply like you are in agreement so we will not relive you.Because my friend get the same reply and get the lawyer notice and he did not accept it.The reason he said that i am not residing in this address and i am staying abroad.Can i do the same?.Suppose if i am in abroad they will send the legal notice to abroad also?. What are all the precautions should i take to avoid court and lawyer stuffs?.Kindly help me now i am in big oscillation.I am not able to take any decision due to this laws and regulations.
