Legal Question in Immigration Law in India
Legal status of a foreigner after marrying an Indian!
Sir, i am an Indian citizen and my fiancee is a natural born American citizen. We would like to get married in India and stay in India. I wanted to know what visa that she should apply for to come here and then continue to stay in India as my spouse. Further, would there be any change in her status after marrying me and would she be able to continue her education here as a citizen of India? How could she become an Indian citizen?

Re: Legal status of a foreigner after marrying an Indian!
She has to come to India on a visitor visa. Once she is married she can apply to become an Indian Citizen. As far as US law is concerned (about continuing education in US - it is best to consult a US lawyer) - as far as Indian law is concerned she can continue her education in US or India, as she may like.
