Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Disclosure of Property Documents Refused

After our parents' deaths, the documents regarding our house and property were kept by our oldest brother (we are three sisters), who neglected to give us any copies, probably with intent to cheat us. He died two years ago and now his daughter refuses to disclose the documents to us saying the property belongs to her. What recourse do we have? How do we either force her to show us the documents or find copies of the original land deed, or discover the 'history' of our parents property? This would date back several decades. Thank you!

Re: Disclosure of Property Documents Refused

Is the property/properties in question ancestral property? Had your parents made any Will? Are you aware of any Will made by your brother?

Remedies are available but detailed information is needed.

Re: Disclosure of Property Documents Refused

Property documents are registered documents and certified copies thereof can be obtained by anybody by making application and paying charges.

Once you now the details, then you can decide further line of action.
