signed agreements

We recently signed a ''consulting agreement.'' It was to help us get a mortgage and buy a house. We would like to get out of this agreement with this person. We have asked repeatedly to get a copy of the agreement but he refuses telling us it is a confidential agreement. I would like to get a copy so that I know what our obligations and responsibilities are to this particular contract. How do I know if I am breaking the agreement if I don't even have a copy? Is this legal? He NEVER provided us with a copy, so I have nothing to go buy right now. By law aren't I entitled to a copy of any agreement I sign?

Call the Consumer Protection Division of Indiana's Attorney General's office. Yes, you should get a copy, and you should have read it.

It is not confidential as to you. It sounds to me like there is some fraud going on here. I suggest that you contact the Lake County Prosecutors Office as well as the Attorney General's Office. I note that you live in South Hammond. Where is his office located? I wonder if he has a business license. If none of the agencies will help you, contact an attorney to send a letter to this "consultant".

In the future, always get a copy of any agreement that you sign.
