Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
Attorney misconduct
I was offered a 30 year sentence. My attorney told me not to take the plea because he could win the case. We went to trial and I was found guilty and given a life sentence under the Federal Sentencing Guidlines. I wanted to take the plea offered by the US Attorney but my attorney assured me he could win a jury trial, after I paid him another $30,000.00 to prepair for the trial. Is this attorney miscounduct or can lawyers ''assure'' a win in a jury trial just to get more money from a defendant?

Re: Attorney misconduct
You didn't state what type of trial you had. Was it a jury trial or court trial? There are no guarantees. They can only provide the best defense. You do have the right to appeal your case.
