Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana
I am not happy with my public defender. He avoids answering my questions and is not working "for" me. He is rushing things along as if there is alterior motive. I'm frustrated and don't know what to do. Can I request a different defender through the court?

You can change attorneys by hiring attorney, but unless you have proof of your pd being incompetent, a request for a new attorney will generally not be granted.
Remember that your attorney does not have to do things the way you tell him to do them, and sometimes folks think that means the pd is not working "for" them. It also can help if you write your questions out and ask for a written response.
