Legal Question in Medical Leave in Indiana
FMLA Elderly Father
My 84 year old father has Alzheimer's and has macular degeneration. Legally blind in one eye, now in the other eye. Will find out Monday how bad the ''good'' eye is. My Dad cannot drive - I had a schedule appt. to his attorney on my lunch hour today - was told to cancel it and forced to change my lunch hour for an employee filling in in my dept. She wanted my standard time - more seniority. How can I avoid this from happening in the future? I am a union employee - how can I scheudle appts. on my own time, if I cannot keep my own time? Does his legal and financial appts. fall under FMLA since he is legally blind, has ALS, and his doctor took away his right to drive?
Thank you

Re: FMLA Elderly Father
This is really between you and your union, because 1) they are the ones administering your work hours (from what it appears) and your employer's FMLA policy would have been negotiated through the union.
