Legal Question in Personal Injury in Indiana

My kid suffered a broken ankle sliding into home plate in a league game , The kids had been told all year by umpires that the league has a must slide rule on any close play and were always called out ifthey did not slide . Ten days before her injury the same thing happen to another girl on our team and i began checking into the rules and found that the babe ruth league rule has a must Avoid collision rule not must slide rule . No league anywhere has a must slide rule but but most people think there is . The must avoid rule states runner must try to avoid a defender when they have the ball in hand /glove and are waiting to make a tag , The runner can slide ,veer ot of path, stop forward motion or return to base they came from . They were all told must slide .

A collision has to occur for the runner to be out and the person must have the ball or the condtion the rule governs dowes not exist . In my case my kid was not tagged and did not collide as no one was at the plate ,yet as she was about one step from plate the ump told her to slide .. Can i sue to get med bills paid i really am most concerned with making the league retrain the umps and coaches in the correct spirt of the rule to prevent more injuries from happening . After the first injury i sent the league president copies of the rule to prove it was being taught incorrectly and nothing was done to correct it , in time to save my kid . I have since got the main chapterof babe ruth league to confirm that there was no must slide rule and have now got the league here to say that they need to address this . After being told this i went to a game lst night and saw kid after kid slide on plays that do not need a slide ,nothing has change , I hope to be able to push a change . Do i have a chance to force med bills and what kind of lawyer would i need to see . I have since got a copy of the sign up form and other then age name and stuff like that there is no wavier of right to sue . We also noticed after looking through game photos through the season that the last couple of games being games that the two kids suffered broken bones in there was a huge hole at home plate from where they had began having the boys leagues use the diamond and the batters box was dug out badly and never filled back in . I would think that the league show negligence in their duty to provide a safe field as well as putting kids at risk of by implying that they had to slide due to a rule that does not exist , sliding causes 70 percent of all injuries in softball so the more you slide the greater chance for injury
