Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

If i have a legal stand i am ready to take action, and will be looking for representation.

I want to take this in my own hands and leave my father out of it, he has paid enough for my wants. I feel like a brat of course. I know he has done too much, and know i am not deserving of all he has done.

My father bought me a 1999 GMC Yukon SLT in October of 2009. I decided to do some work to it, there was a two-tone paint job from factory. The truck was rusting on the bottom half. I SLOWLY did the body work as i was 16 and had a small job, big expensive gas-guzzling truck, and high school. He stepped in and helped me, because "i was trying to better myself, and he respects that". not only financially but with the work also. He owns a small repair shop in Hobart, In. So he was alot more knowing of how to do it. We decided to paint the bottom half, with the matched black upper GM paint. We could not get the paint line to blend and told with the new basecoat clearcoat paint used today that we never could, especially black. We were told the entire truck needed to be painted. I was more than willing, happy with the way she was as he forked out way too much money for me and i felt terrible. he was 63 at the time and raising my niece, and a whole lot more. He was overly overworked.

My father bought me another vehicle for the time being, and sent my truck to a well recommended, private auto painter. The guy randomly came into our shop needed work done to his outboard motors. Overheard talk about the truck, said he was a painter. My fathers friends at K&K auto, who sells body panels and other parts said he did good work. he is also employed by the city of highland. My fathers niece's spouse works with the guy and also recommended. He was supposedly one who got it, got it done, an back home.

They worked out a deal, for work, of work.

we did and returned his motors. he recieved my baby. at first it was at my fathers friends, sons garage. as he did not have place for it.

it been one thing after another since. Its been april 2010 since he has had it. it was excuse after excuse. His father did die in in early 2011, which we can understand. But everytime we called it was, two more weeks, two mores weeks. It will be done. He also recieved two new bumpers for the truck, both being custom. Im really concerned and dont know what to do, i dont want my dad thinking im mad at him over it because i am far from that, i appreciate it more than i will ever be able to show.

sadly my dad doesnt have any work, on him recieving the parts, the 800 dollar paint an clear coat.

he got so fed up with our calls, he blocked both my dads cell and the shop. he lived with his dad at the time, so he said. and the address we have is of his dads house. we never see him. we cant reach nor find this guy. i want my truck, i am the only legal owner on the clear title. i have proof of purchases. is there anything i can do? mount some investigation, charge him with anything?

my father has been taken advantage of so ,uch, he trusts people way to easily. He is very religious and felt touched with this guy, because his dad was also a very religious man. IM losing my mind, im having troubles with the sick thoughts of breaking the law myself. Please further guide me. I want my stuff back.

i have name, and like i said, employee of Highland. How can a city, allow an employee, to treat people this way. I am so sickened by this, it is tearing apart my father and i cant bear to witness.... Any help is greatly appreciated. I am 19 years old now, still live with my parents, niece, younger brother. Still work for my father. I rather leave my dad out of it and take care of it myself, it is just to much for him and i know it. He never says it, he tries to calm me and promises it'll be okay.

Hes the dishonest, unloyal guy.

Why must my caring, loving, father pay the ultimate price.. For trying to help his son. I know there is alot of info here and probably alot of not needed. i just wanted to provide all i can....

can he really have my truck, in my name, title and all. BLOCK OUR NUMBERS? Not return anyhting? i know that we sent a Certified letter to the house to his name at the address provided and was signed for, but no return of call or letter.. PLEASE HELP, I DO NOT WANT TO BE A CRIMINAL.

You have to file a lawsuit. Not much else to do. You have a claim of conversion here, at the least. Of course, he's going to say that you haven't paid him and he isn't releasing the truck until he's paid.
