Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

There is a bank I got a loan from and a car that was repoed Aug of 2005. I have asked numerous times for the paperwork on why I owe so much more than what the original was for. Is there a way to get this off my account other than disputing? I would take them to court but not sure how to do this either in civil claims.

If the car was repossessed and it brought less money than was owed at auction you're going to be liable for the deficiency. Were you sued?
