Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

small claims judgement

My fiance had a charge account in his name not in mine. They started to file a judgement in his name only first. Then they also filed one in my name. This was never my bill nor did I charge there. They filed a judgement against me. I didn't realize this until the garnishment. Can I file a petition to reopen this. Also the last name on the garnishment is not my last name it is my fiance's. They used my first name with his last name. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It has been 2 1/2 months since judgement was entered.

Re: small claims judgement

If that is not your name, then the judgment is not against you. This should be sufficient to stop any garnishments.
