Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Warrant- county, state, or national?

If one was to fail to appear to a court date in Iowa, would a warrant

be issued nationally or just in Iowa? In this example, the charge is

a felony charge for intent to distribute a controlled (green leafy)

substance. Your reply is very much appreciated.

A warrant will show up in all state's records through the National data base. Either deal with it or risk arrest on the next traffic stop. Hire a local attorney in that state, and you may be able to avoid having to go in person.

I concur with Terry Nelson. As a former prosecutor in a rural county in Iowa, we would recall warrants only when we had proof positive that the person in question was deceased or serving a long prison sentence.

I would add that you would probably be subject to extradition as well. It's best to deal with it up front.

These warrants were reported to the FBIs NCIC service which provides service to law enforcement agencies nationwide.
