Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Child support/medical bills

Just wondering if medical bills can legally be transferred to another name. My son's father is supposed to pay for insurance and 90% of medical bills. He didn't have insurance at a time when my son required emergency surgery, so I'm being billed $18,000. I am owed roughly the same in back child support and this week received a payment of $0.89 and the court order is set at $615/month

Re: Child support/medical bills

Does the custody and support order specify who is responsible for medical debts in the absence of insurance? It sounds like he's responsible for ninety per cent of this bill, but getting him to pay for it sounds troublesome, which is why the hospital is billing you. Have you discussed this with an attorney?
