Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
Hello. I have a couple of quick questions in regards to custody and child support. My first question is this: Once custody of the child is established, neither parent can move out of state with the child without written consent that has been notarized by the courts correct?
My second question is whether or not this still applies if child support isn't being paid for a brief period of time? When my ex and I split she took our daughter, the car, and kicked me out at 1:30 a.m. in a city that I was new to. Due to a lack of a car and no license, I lost my job that was a 20 mile commute to. I've been forced to move back to my old hometown and find a job here, which due to its small size, might take a bit. She now is saying that she is going to take our daughter to Texas to live with a guy she has only known for four weeks and has never met. Also, we were never married but my daughter shares my last name. Thank you for any advice or answers.

1. That's wrong.
2. If there's no formal custody and support order in place either of you can do whatever you want because your rights are coequal.
