Legal Question in Immigration Law in Iowa
immigration
im indonesian, i went to college in the us. i was charged for DUI (2004, i was arrested for 2 days, then there was a driving test for DUI, i did not attend the driving test, after that, there was a court that i had to appeal to charge me, whether i would be arrested for 7days to 3 weeks. and i did not attend the court and i went back to my country indonesia until now 2008. how can i go back to the states? is it true that in 5 years the records will be restored? or 7 years? or there is no record of me anymore? thanks
''If you have been charged criminally and you left the jurisdiction to avoid prosecution, the Statute of Limitations is tolled for the time period that you were out of the jurisdiction. As a result, a warrant may still be active and executed in the event you are stopped in the U.S. ''
okay, then, what should i do in the easiest way to make this problem straight. so then i could go back to the US. thanks

Re: immigration
Questions you would need to address with your attorney in this case is your present status (Are you a green card (U.S. permanent resident)holder at this time?), the manner of entry you would use to re-enter the United States (visitor B-2, etc.), and whether the DUI or other crimes or acts, or health, or other factors would make you inadmissible to come the United States. Since you don't have all the details of the conviction, you need to contact the court and get any plea agreement you made, the judgment and sentence, and the court docket and get them certified; you also need the police report (also certified) from the police department regarding the arrest. If there is a warrant , you need to clear this up with the court through your attorney.
