Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Iowa
Lost money order
I paid my rent in 2/07 & the land- lord lost my payment. I am tracing the money orders but the landlord is taking me to court saying I didnt pay the rent for 2/07 & they applied my 3/07 rent to the payment due for 2/07. My 03/07 & 4/07 were applied for a month back. Can they do this?

Not if they lost the payment, no.
But, by paying by money order and not getting a receipt, you don't have a lot of recourse since they can say they never received it and YOU lost it.
