Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Iowa
My husband and I are in the process of buying a home in Iowa. We are about 3 weeks from closing on it, and we have recently been informed by individuals in the community that they suspect meth use and the possible manufacturing of meth in the house. We are having a professional come to the house in a few days to test for meth residue and toxins. My question is if the results come back concerning, can we back out of the deal even though the home inspection was done and that contingency was lifted? I don't want to go through with buying this house if it means putting my family in danger.
Thanks!

I would suggest that you hire a real estate attorney to represent you and review the purchase agreement and disclosures. This is the only way you are going to get the specific advice you need. If your real estate agent or loan officer tell you that you do not need an attorney, ignore them.
