Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas
car loan and insurance
The last payment for our van was
sent to us in June and then the loan
company sent a bill for over $4,000
saying we owed them for car
insurance. We contacted them
that we had insurance the whole
time we had the van. We have sent
them proof of insurance at least 3
times. The last time we talked with
the company the representative said
it now looked like the company
would owe us money. Then last
night they tried to repo our van for
nonpayment. They now say we owe
them $2,500 today and $85 for the
attempted repo. They say they will
not discuss the amount until we pay
this bill. If we do not pay it, they will
send the repo man out again for the
vehicle. What do we do? How many
times do we have to send them the
paperwork? This is so frustrating
because we have done what they
asked and now they are trying to
take the van and we do not owe
them any money!

Re: car loan and insurance
It sounds like you may have gotten entangled with an unscrupulous lender. You may need to have an attorney bring an action to quiet title to your vehicle. Contact an attorney in your area. This may cost you a couple hundred dollars, but it could save you thousands.
