Kansas and Texas

I was told that if a child custody has been filed in Texas and the children reside in Kansas with ther biological mother that kansas does not honor that custody judgment unless it has been files in the state where the children reside. is this true .

It would be most unwise to ignore the custody order of the State of original jurisdiction; whoever gave you this advice is incorrect. If a change of custody is in the best interest of the child(ren) Petition the KS Court for such a change if your child(ren) are now residents of KS.
