Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Kansas

Sexual harrasement

My boss started an affair with me that I felt I could not get out of because I was afraid of losing my job. His wife found out about it and he made me leave the job, he was suppose to give me 6 weeks severance pay but only gave me 4 weeks. His wife has continued to harrass me even though I am no longer there. Is there anything I can do about this I feel that

I was backed into a corner and because his wife found out I no longer have a job, but it was okay for me to work there till then.

Re: Sexual harrasement

You likely have a case against your employer for wrongful termination under the federal and Kansas laws against sexual harassment and gender discrimination. Even though you may have begun the affair voluntarily, your boss was in a superior position. If you were in fear of losing your job if you ended the affair, then got fired because you were in the affair, you can probably make a case.

I suggest you consult with an experienced employment discrimination attorney. You can call me if you wish. You have six months from date of termination to file a complaint with the Kansas Human Rights Commission. 300 days to file with EEOC. You must also mitigate your damages by seeking other employment. You probably also qualify for unemployment.
