My father is 93 years old and has Alzheimer's. his wife of 16 years has been drawing large amounts of money from their checking account and placing it in her personal account in another bank. He does not know what's going on.i recently acquired POA and closed the account. Now she doesn't want to let me in the house to see about him and the house belongs to him and me not her. What rights do I have? She has said she will leave and leave him there alone. I had to get the police to go with me to see him yesterday. What can I do to keep from upsetting him because he does'nt know what's going on?

You may wish to contact your local Adult Protective Services office. You may also wish to consider seeking guardianship through your district court, especially if you run into any problems utilizing your POA.
