Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kentucky
Civil Summons
I have received a civil summons from an apparent debt five years ago. This debt is from 2003 and I honestly don't recall any of it. The collection agency has failed to provide me with information from the original creditor. I don't know how to write the response letter to them, and I am afraid that it may be a debt that my ex-husband is liable for. Please help, thank you.

Re: Civil Summons
You need to take immediate action. When you receive a Civil Summons, you have only 20 days from receipt of the summons to file a written answer with the court (with a copy sent to the Plaintiff's attorney). You need to read the attached Complaint carefully. You are well advised to contact a Kentucky attorney immediately. You can get a referral on line, by contacting the Kentucky Bar Association.
If you delay, the Court will grant the Plaintiff a default judgment against you; thereby subjecting you to possible wage garnishment and attachment of your bank account.
