Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky

Teenagers

My son met a girl, he was seventeen, getting ready to turn eighteen, she was fifteen. They pursured a friendship from a previous time, which led to more. He is now eighteen, and she will soon be sixteen. She is pregnant now. They wish to get married, and I don't know what will happen now. I live in California and know the law somewhat here. From what I've researched about Kentucky law she doesn't have the right to consent till sixteen. Meanwhile I'm afraid my son will be prosecuted for not understanding the responsibilty of eighteen. Can you please advise?

IF she or her parents press charges for statutory rape, he could go to prison.

Re: Teenagers

It will depend upon the policy of the local prosecuting attorney, and to some extent the attitude of the girls parents. Before he turns 18 he is a minor. He should break off this relationship until she is 18. Most DAs in california would not prosecute them because they are very close in age. Resubmit the question to a Kentucky attorney.
