Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Need an attorney that can practice in any state

My son has a child in TN. He is not married to the mother. We are seeking an attorney in Kentucky who can handle the case, even though the mother and child are in TN. Are there attorneys that can legally practice law in all 50 states, or must we retain a TN lawyer or KY lawyer?...or both? Child support is paid up to date, yet our son has not seen his child since it was born two years ago. We have an attorney in TN who is not handling the case very well. Things have been up in the air for two years now. Please advise us.

Thank you,

PS Please be specific and use simple language...not legalize.

Re: Need an attorney that can practice in any state

Attorneys must be licensed in each state in which they practice law.

Some attorneys are licensed in more than one state,

but I cannot imagine anyone licensed in all 50.

Occasionally an attorney may practice in a state

in which s/he is not licensed, subject to the rules

of each state's bar association and court rules.
