Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Elder parent

My wife's mother recently went into a nursing home. She is 89 and has alzeimers. Her step father who has a touch of it himself says now maybe he shouldn't have put her in but there is no way he can take care of her and she has adjusted and doing well at the nursing home. The problem is now he says maybe he wants to take her out and take home then says maybe he just wants to move her somewhere else My wife is her only child and he has several kids that can't see anything wrong with him but they haven't see him in years they just started coming back now when they think they're going to get something We don't want anything except the best care for her mother is there any thing in the law that will allow her to get a guardianship over her mother to keep him from moving her. The nursing home is excellent and close to both are houses but he is feeling guilty about putting her in a home also if he moves her we might not find another place for her thanks

Re: Elder parent

You may apply to become guardian at the Hall of Justice, 3rd floor, Mental Inquest/Disability Division of the Jefferson District Court. Under the circumstances I would urge you to do so. Best wishes in these trying times.
