Re: Legal Separation
Under KY law, a "legal separation" is a divorce in virtually all respects other than the name. It is a legal status, achieved through the courts, not just an acknowledgment of the fact of living apart. It is most commonly used as an alternative to divorce for those whose religious beliefs do not condone divorce, or for health insurance purposes where a company will continue a "separated" spouse on a policy, but not a "divorced" one.
