what is the requirement time by law to apply for a legal separation

The exact same requirments exist for a legal separation as for a divorce. One party must believe there are irreconcilable differences at that time and you must be separated in fact (that can include separate bedrooms in the same home).

The question is a bit unclear. There is no specific time to apply for a separation. It could be the day after you get married, or years later. A legal separation is a court action, and in most respects is the same as a divorce. While married people may live separately from one another, it is not a "legal separation" unless there is a court proceeding.
