Do I Have Any Recourse When Husband Files In a Different State?
My husband and I have been married since 1999.My husband began working in WI approx. May, 2001.In March of 2002 he told me he no longer wanted to come home and I told him I no longer wanted to be married.The last payment he sent home was in April 2002.He had a Chevy Blazer and Chevy minivan in his name. I drove the minivan but he refused to sign it over to me.The van's engine blew in July 2002 and he refused to pay for repairs or to pay for me to have a vehicle.I borrowed $2,500 for a vehicle.I quit my job in Aug. 2002 due to a reoccuring back injury and moved to KY to live with my mother.I planned on filing for divorce in Feb. 2003 and asking for reimbursement for the vehicle I had to purchase.I talked to my husband this month and learned he had bought a $9,600 Blazer.He also stated that he was going to file for dissolution in Ohio.I cannot travel repeatedly to Ohio because of my back problems, so it seems I cannot contest anything he files.Do I have any recourse?Is there a way I can request the actions happen in KY, especially since, even though he keeps an Ohio address, he lives in WI?In order to take any action at all, am I going to have to have an Ohio lawyer?

There is a world of difference between "He also

stated that he was going to file for dissolution

in Ohio" and his actually having done so. There

is nothing to prevent you from filing in KY before

he does so in Ohio (or wherever).
