Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

VoluntaryRelease of paternal rights

My fiance has a child from a previous relationship. Several times the mother has

said that she would like for ''Bob'' to give up his parental rights. If both parents are

in agreeance with ''Bob'' giving up his rights, will the state allow this to happen?

Can he give up his rights voluntarily if they both agree to it?

Re: VoluntaryRelease of paternal rights

The real question is whether you are interested in adopting the child. The reason I say this is that most judges will not do a voluntary termination of one parent for fear that the child will then have less financial and emotional support. If the termination is part of a voluntary adoption proceeding, the answer is probably yes, as this would assure the court that the child will have 2 parents.
