Legal Question in Health Care Law in Kentucky

Abuse in a childrens physciatric facility

my son has been held down and beaten by peers. staff did not take him to the doctor. When he was trying to talk to me on the phone staff yelled and called him names which I heard because he was trying to tell me that staff was mistreating the patients. He is being over medicated. His dose of meication is not supposed to be over 33mgs that is maximum for his body weight. He was put there because he was suicidle and they do not have him on suicide watch. I am just wondering what kind of options I have as far as taking them to court and getting him out of this place. He was put there voluntarily by me his mother.

Re: Abuse in a childrens psychiatric facility

Depends to some extent on his age - if you can go to KRS Chapter 645 in the Juvenile Code, it will have all the options laid out for you. I assume you are speaking of a hospital, not some other type of facility. Best wishes in dealing with this unfortunate situation.
