revocation of power of attorney

my husband's grandfather has given power of attorney to his son, who since has moved out of state. he has neglected financial obligations and can not be reached when medical decisions need to be made. he has basically abandon him in the nursing home. how can we revoke his power of attorney and get it to someone who can take care of him. grandfather is incapable of making decisions.

If your husband's grandfather is mentally capable of making decisions, he can revoke the POA and appoint your husband (or whomever) as new POA; he can also go the District Court (Probate Division) and request that your husband (or whomever) be appointed curator. If gf is not mentally capable, guardianship proceedings should be initiated In District Court. If gf is found to be either partially or fully "disabled" (the term for what used to be called incompetent") then the Judge will appoint your husband (or whomever) as guardian. The County Attorney should assist you in he latter case. Best wishes.
