Legal Question in Disability Law in Louisiana

How much Attorney's in Louisiana Charge for a Disability Claimant'? I have goggled this and it said 25% BUT an attorney answered this question on another Website saying, 'As much as you want to Pay'. People in the New Orleans AREA tell me it took 5 yrs to get and were Charged 33%. None of this adds up. Are there any rules/laws about this in Louisiana when it comes to charges?

You do not explain what type of disability you are seeking. Is it under a disability policy related to your work? Is it social security disability based on a schedule because you have paid into the social security system? Is it disability under social security but it is based on your not having paid the minimum quarters into the SS system? Is it disability caused by an accident that is not work related and for which you are suing an individual and/or their insurance company under a personal injury suit? There are too many variations to answer your question without many more details. However, I will answer assuming that you are seeking Social Security disability based on the fact you paid into the social security system at least the minimum number of paid up quarters. The SS administration has a schedule by which the attorney is paid. If the lawyer believes he deserves more than the schedule, he has to fill out a pain-in-the-butt set of forms to justify the increase. I have found that what the SSA offers under its schedule is fair and I have always taken that amount. It is based on the amount of back due benefits, and the lawyer is not allowed to continue to receive fees on future benefits. BTW, many workers comp lawyers take a percentage of comp benefits forever which I personally fine reprehensible.
