Legal Question in Construction Law in Louisiana
I was not paid for a job done and the amount($20,000) has put me back. what should my first step be and how do I obtain papers to do this. I cannot afford legal counsel right now so I decided to do this on my own.

You may be able to place a labor and materialman's lien on the property. Still, what you will likely have to do is file suit against the debtor. With that amount of money, you can't go to small claims court, so you will need an attorney. You may be able to find an attorney to take the case on for a percentage of the money received.
