Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Louisiana
I lost my job 1 1/2 years ago, and live in north Louisiana where jobs are very scarce, so I could not find one that paid enough for me to continue to pay my car note. Toyota repossessed my car and failed to turn in the license plates, so now my driver's license is flagged and I cannot get insurance on the second hand car I was able to buy after I found a job (5 weeks ago). The DMV says I must had a Declaration of Repossession from Toyota, and I have called multiple times to be told they will fax it to me, and have written Toyota customer service, with the same result. What can I do if Toyota will not give me this letter stating that they repossessed my car. My license is flagged because I did not carry insurance on the Toyota after it was repossessed in March of this year.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

It may be necessary to hire counsel to get Toyota to provide the document. I have to assume this was a self-help repossession because otherwise there would be court Documents.
