Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
why charges were not pressed?
When I was molested when I was 8 years old. When I told my mother, she took me to a doctor. Doctor confirmed molestation. No charges were ever pressed. Why? We live in Louisiana. She took me to a doctor in a parish we did not live in. Is this why? Child protection was brought in but he was never arrested?????? Could you please explain this to me?

Re: why charges were not pressed?
It is difficult to say why anything did or did not happen years ago. It is almost impossible for anyone who had nothing to do with the decisions. The doctor & child protection were informed. Unless the police (and ultimately the DA) were informed they could not act.
Even if they were informed the DA must decide if he will charge the accused. Usually this decision is based on the strength of the evidence.
What parish did the molestation happen in? What parish was the doctor in? How many years ago was this?
