manslauther charges
if manslaughter charges have been asked to be dropped by the deceased family, does the prosecuting authority usually drop the charges?

Usually? You need to specify the DA's office involved, the type of manslaughter, ie auto accident, shooting etc, and then ask the lawyers in that jurisdiction. If it was a non-DWI accident, then maybe they would listen to the family.
