Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
child custody
I have custody of my two children in Louisiana. Their father, who lives in California, wants them to come to Calif. for the summer. Can he petition the court in California and get custody of them there or will my custody papers override anything he might get in Cali.?

Re: child custody
Assuming the Custody Judgment was rendered in Louisiana, then that is the Venue to file to change the Judgment. That Venue can be changed under certain circumstances.

Re: child custody
Child custody matters have to be filed in the state where the child has been living for at least 6 consecutive months or the last place the child lived for 6 consecutive months.
