Legal Question in Immigration Law in Louisiana
I want to marry a man from El Salvador and bring him home to the USA with me. How long will it take after we marry before I can do this?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Yes, you can marry him in El Salvador (as I understand, he is living abroad), and then come back to USA to file a petition on his behalf (I assume that you are a USA citizen). When a petition for him, as your husband, is approved, it will be forwarded for further processing to the NVC and then to the US embassy in El Salvador.
The timeframe will depend on your and his particular situation.
Has he ever been to USA? Was he ever deported or placed into removal proceedings in Immigration court? Any arrests, convictions? Any prior visits or visas to USA, etc?
