Honor Student Falsely Accused of Cheating
My daughter is a Junior in HS. Last year she was 1st in her class. She is in all honors classes & has all A's except a B in Chemistry. She was accused of getting out of her seat & looking another students paper while taking a chemistry test. The teacher said he saw her in the reflection of a glass door.He did not say anything. She found out when she got the test back with a zero.He told another class that it was a shame that the top student in the JR class had to cheat her way to the top.She is horrified. She works so hard to achieve her grades. She tried to talk to him,but he was very smart aleck with her.I talked to him & the principle with no resolve.Everyone, including other teachers is making comments about the incident. She has always worried over her grades and this rediculous situation is getting her very depressed. She has never made anything other that an A on her report card until this year. Her goal is to graduate 1st in her class. She has never been accused of cheating in her life. She is an exceptional good person, but is very sensitive. She says she is not a liar or a cheat and she doesn't like being called one.Can a teacher do this? What should we do next?

Re: Honor Student Falsely Accused of Cheating
You have my sympathy; you should consuld a local attorney who can apply some pressure on the school to step back and treat you fairly on this matter. One single bad grade can be over come, but this could snowball into a larger issue and your child's grades really do affect the rest of her life.
