irs taxes and state taxes

i need help regarding the back taxes i owe and cannot afford to pay them. i am paying the irs noe 212 a month plus now i rec a notice from state of la taxes that i owe them also. i have been ill with thyroid problems which causes me a lot of problems with depression and high b/p. diabetes and etc. can you give me some info on my rights? thank you margaret

I am not addressing your Louisiana state back tax question.

In regards to your IRS back taxes, there a multiple forms of resolution. Most involve providing the IRS with information regarding your current financial situation. Providing this information allows the IRS to determine whether you can afford a monthly payment to the IRS or can afford to pay your IRS back taxes in full.

If you cannot afford a monthly payment, you may qualify for a financial hardship or Currently Not Collectible status.

If you cannot afford to pay your IRS back taxes in full, you may qualify for an Offer in Compromise.
