Legal Question in DUI Law in Maine

I recieved an OUI in Maine and im a resident of Texas. I cant attend my court appearance in Nov due to my job. I dont have hardly any money for attorney fees and dont know what to do. I have never been in trouble with the law in any way before and need some help.

Thanks for your inquiry. Not sure what your options are except appear on your own, or hire an attorney in Maine to appear on your behalf. If you have an attorney, there's a chance you won't have to come to Maine to deal with the charge. If you or your attorney don't show up for the court dates, then you will have an arrest warrant issued. Maine authorities won't come to Texas for you, nor will you be extradited. The next time you are in Maine, you could be arrested. Also, failure to deal with the Maine OUI now, could possible affect your license status in Texas and your right to drive in other states, too.
