My mother passed away last week. I have not had any information on what the probate consisted of. My mother had a substantial amout of money and I am her daughter and inherited some of her money, do I get any letter from the attorneystating my share of the estate?

Sorry for your loss. If your mother had a will, then there is someone in charge of this, they are called the personal representative. That person should contact you about your mothers estate, but this may take a few weeks. This process goes through the probate court - but in which state depends on where your mother lived. You can call the probate court to see who is the representative.
