Legal Question in Banking Law in Maryland
Is it illegal for a bank to not honor/cash a check that is written by an account holder of that bank?

In general, a bank has to honor a valid check drawn by its accountholder. However, as always, there are exceptions to the general rule. Therefore, it would have been helpful if you had disclosed the bank's reasons for dishonoring the check.
