Legal Question in Business Law in Maryland
requesting payment above the quote
I had a written estimate completed on work I wanted done to my motorcycle. The estimate was $4200. when the work was completed the shop said that I owed an additional $1200 to the $4200 already paid. No additional work was completed nor was I advised of the difference in price for the services. I live in Maryland. What percent above the written quoted price is the shop legallly allowed to charge me? Especially since i wasn't notified of the additional costs and no other work was completed to the bike except what was agreed upon in writing.

Re: requesting payment above the quote
Under MD law, the repair shop is not allowed to exceed the written estimate by more than 10% without the customer's consent.
