Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Maryland

My daughter broke all ties with a friend of hers 5 months ago when she determined he was a bad person to be around. Now, he is harrassing her by phone and text messages claiming she owes him every penny he ever spent on her plus interest. He says that he kept every receipt and she owes him this money even though she never asked him for anything. He had a habit of inviting groups of people to go on trips and such with him and he always picked up the tab. He is also threatening harm to her, her boyfriend, and her family if she doesn't pay. Does he have a legal right to any of this?

It sounds like everything he gave was a "gift" and therefore he has no right to reimbursement. If he continues to harass your daughter, I would strongly suggest calling the police and filing a report. I would also go to court and request that the court issue a Restraining Order against the ex-friend so that he cannot come within a certain distance of your daughter, the new boyfriend, and her family. You can go to your county superior court and ask the clerk for assistance in filing out the appropriate restraining order forms. If the clerk is unwilling to assist you, you may consider hiring a family law attorney to assist you.
