Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Maryland
flyers at a university
Is it unlawful for a University student at a public institute to hand out business flyers/information offering a service for students. We are singled out while other businesses are allowed to advertise around the university and in classrooms. Are we in our legal right to go after the university to pass out flyers on the campus.

Re: flyers at a university
Are you asking whether the student is breaking the law by handing out the flyers, or whether the university is acting illegally by forbidding him to do so? Either way, the answer depends on a variety of facts you haven't provided. My sense is that you know why your group is treated differently and don't want to tell us -- probably because it will justify the university's actions.
Please post your question again, but explain the nature of the business and the type of "service" it offers. Also, please tell us whether any of the businesses which are allowed to hand out fliers offer the same type of service. Finally, please tell us what explanation, if any, has been offered for your group's treatment.
Re: flyers at a university
The questions that comes to mind are (1) Does the university have a policy on passing out flyers?
(2) If so, did they violate it by preventing you from passing out flyers?
(3) Did they give you a reason for preventing you from passing out flyers?
As stated by Mr. Hoffman, the facts are very important, and you failed to provide sufficient information to provide a definitive answer.
